THE OFFICE JOKE!

So we have a DVR and we love to watch the office. So we record EVERY episode and watch them after the kids go to bed. It's on TBS every tuesday and wednesday and then NBC on Thursday. But I just watched a funny one and there was a funny joke that Jim tells to Michael when he walks into the office in this episode....he says "It smells like up dog in here" and Michael asks "What's up dog??!" hahahah get it?!?! That's funny!! I get a kick out of this show like none other!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! It's the best!! We've only been watching it for the past year. Does anyone know how Jim and Pam get together?!? We saw the an old episode of Pam getting engaged to Roy on a boat. Jim is totally digging pam in this episode and he is totally crushed that Pam is engaged to Roy. So how do they break it off and how does it all work out that Jim and Pam finally get together? I missed how that all happened! Please someone tell me!

Hi Brianne, this is Karin Tye, Stephanie's little sister. I stumbled upon this request and decided to answer your cry for help. Pam, was the receptionist and Jim was a salesman who sat diagonally from her at work. They became good friends through pulling pranks on Dwight on the time and Jim developed a little crush that soon turned into a big crush. Everyone knew Pam had a thing for Jim too but she never admitted it because she was engaged. They kissed at a few parties and Pam blamed it on "being drunk" but still continued with the wedding plans. Jim can't take it anymore and transfers to another branch where he and Karen hit it off. They begin dating and things are going well until their branch closes and Karen and Jim get transferred to Scranton. Karen notices that Jim cant get over Pam and they break up, she leaves (which is why she isn't in the show anymore). then a few weeks (maybe even a week) before her wedding she calls it off and Roy is heartbroken. Pam decides she wants to pursue her art so she applies for an art college. Jim tells Pam his feelings (and vice versa) and they start dating. Jim was going to propose before she left but Andy proposed to Angela right at the same time Jim was pulling the ring out of his pocket. Anyway so Pam moves away for college and that leaves them having a long distance relationship. Jim has had enough of the "waiting until they can be closer" and they meet at a gas station and proposes. That is the SUPER SUPER condensed version but you really should rent all the seasons. The first season was an experiment so it is only like 6 or 8 episodes long all the others are normal sized. Hope this helps!!

Everybody tells me that The Office is such a great show and I never get the opportunity to see it. I need to rent the DVDs!

Arent you so glad that the whole Tye clan writes on your blog? Anyway, I have all seasons on DVD and since we are basically neighbors, you can come and borrow them anytime you would like. Be prepared for a messy house, no dinner and fussy children because they are addicting!

Bri, you're so great! That was such a nice comment on my blog--it made my day. Thanks.

So looks like Karin beat me to the explanation! She's right except for a few minor things (about the timeline). Pam actually broke off the wedding with Roy while Jim was in Stamford (working at the other branch). We find this out in the first episode of season three. So for the first part of season three he's working in Connecticut and she's single in Scranton. But they don't talk. When Jim comes back to Scranton he and Karen had just barely hooked up so that's why he and Pam couldn't get together (plus I think he was still hurt from her rejection at the end of season 2). So finally at the end of season 3 Pam confesses that she does like Jim and that's why she calls off her wedding. In the season finale of season 3 Jim realizes that Pam finally likes him back and that's what he's wanted all along and while Karen's fun, she's not really who he's in love with. So he breaks up with her and asks Pam out to dinner. That's how season 3 ends. So season 4 started with Jim and Pam admitting that they were now dating. It's in the end of season 4 that Pam gets an opportunity to go to art school (a dream she's had forever) and Jim supports her in it since it's only for the summer. Right before she leaves (in the season finale of 4) we think he's going to propose and then Andy steals the moment by proposing to Angela. So season 5 (this season) starts with Jim and Pam not being engaged but still together and healthy while she's doing art school in New York for three months. Like Karin said, Jim surprised her and proposed this season, so now they're engaged. And just last week (as you probably watched) she got back from art school so now she and Jim are in the same place again.

Hooray for the Office!! Wow, I love this show! I have all the seasons too and would highly recommend that you guys get them at some point. There are so many subtle jokes that I missed the first few times I watched them. Plus it's fun to watch the old episodes knowing where the story goes in the future. Enjoy!
