The story of the wooden bowl

This story reminds me why the Lord has taught us to become like little children!

The Wooden Bowl I guarantee you will remember the tale of the Wooden Bowl tomorrow, a week from now, a month from now, a year from now. A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year -old grandson. The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered. The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth. The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess. 'We must do something about father,' said the son. 'I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.' So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner. There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl. When the family glanced in Grandfather's direction, sometimes he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone. Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food. The four-year-old watched it all in silence. One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, 'What are you making?' Just as sweetly, the boy responded, 'Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up. ' The four-year-old smiled and went back to work. The words so struck the parents so that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done. That evening the husband took Grandfather's hand and gently led him back to the family table. For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.

Mayley is Funny

Around here we watch a lot of "Coos Coos" aka Blue's Clues, "Mowgi" aka Jungle Book, Nemo, Little Einsteins & sometimes we watch the Backyardigans (I actually get a kick out of those little guys dancing and singing. They are so cute and funny!) Mayley has been quite the funny girl lately. She is like a little parrot and copies everything that anyone says. The other night we were all tired so we were watching "Little Einsteins" with her and during the show they teach the kids about a piece of real art work and a little piece of classical music and at the end they say "Art by: so and so and music by: so and so." Right after they said "Art by:" We hear Mayley excitingly say "Art by". We could not stop laughing.

Bubbies!

I gave Hunter the nickname "bubbies" I just come up with random little names for the kids. Its fun. I love this pic of me and my little man. He makes me so happy and I can't imagine my life without him. He is so fun to have in our little family! :)

JUST MY LUCK

We are at again...without a camera! Well, kind of! Mayley found my camera because likes to take pictures and dropped on the kitchen floor and broke the lens! If any of you that know me really well know that I have the WORST luck with cameras. I had 2 on my mission. probably 5 before that and now that I have been married if we do have to get a new one it would be my 3rd. But we are hoping they can fix the one that mayley just broke! AHHH!! My mom is letting us borrow her old one that she had forever so we will see if I can get some pics on the computer. So I'm glad I could get the oldie from my mom. Craziness!!!

Let it snow

We received 22 inches of snow last night. Bry took the day off because it was going to be impossible to get out of the driveway and get going in his little car. Good thing Bry has such big muscles since we dont have a snowblower. I bundled Mayley up and she went out and played in the snow and wanted so badly to help shovel the snow. Mayley loves to make tents so Bry wants to make an igloo for Mayley in one of the many 6ft mounds of snow that were created from shoveling the driveway.

Happy Valentines Day!

I wanted to show you all the fun card I made for Bry for valentines day. Thanks to my friend leslie's fun digital scrapbooking site: www.ggdigitaldesgins.com I was able to make this for him. I definently am not perfect at this scrapbooking thing yet but I'm trying. This picture fit the colors...it was right before I left on my mission. I love this pic of us :) I love this holiday a lot more now that I am married. I love you Bry :)

Mayley and Hunter's latest happenings...

Hunter's little hat is about the funniest thing ever. He takes after his Aunt Hayley with wearing the brimmed beanie :) I love this beanie it's awesome! I was soaking my feet the other night Lynda's feet massager thing and Mayley loved the bubbles so she had to test it out too. That was a fun idea. I can't rememeber the last picture I put on here with Mayley actually wearing pants. YIKES.

Bryan Found Hunter's Tickle Spot. This is such a cute little video of him laughing :)

A precious picture

This is a neato picture! My cousin Josh that is serving his mission in Brazil (A very awesome place to serve a mission) drew this of Himself and Mayley from a picture that was taken when mayley was about 6 months old. We went to see them in Vegas when mayley was about 6 months and we must've taken this pic of them together and he has it with him now. He loves to draw. I was so happy to see that he did one of mayley! He is such a fun cousin. :) Mayley had quite the hair!

What do you do all day??

My cute friend sent this to me and I thought all of you moms would put a smile on your face :)

What Do You Do All Day?

A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes andwrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door tothe house and there was no sign of the dog. Proceeding into the entry, hefound an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug waswadded against one wall.In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a Cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food wasspilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled onthe floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand wasspread by the back door.He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and morepiles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill,or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way outthe bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap andmore toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap andtoothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls. As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled upin the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, andasked how his day went.He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?'She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you comehome from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?''Yes,' was his incredulous reply. She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.'

1st time ever!!

YAY FOR MAYLEY!! Today was a small stepping stone for her and for us as her parent. So after she got out of the tub taking her bath she ran around for a little while naked. It is quite the task to put a diaper on that girl. We have been working with her to understand the concept of going potty. So she all of sudden runs to the potty and sits down. I told her to go pee pee in the potty and....she started going!! I was sooooooo proud of her. It was so fun to see her learning something that seems so difficult as a parent. Obviously this is going to take awhile but I was happy to see her going for the 1st time. Being a parent is so fun when you get to watch your kids do something for the 1st time. YAY! I love my mayley girl.
